Love and Ramen Noodles

My husband is my very best friend in the whole world and I love him surprisingly more everyday.

This semester since I have gone back to school, my school and his job have really been keeping us apart. The first couple of months we were married he was home with me every night and I got to come home right from work. Those days really spoiled me.

Lately, Hal has been trying to work lots of overtime so we can have some extra money for the holidays, and I have been at school four nights a week. It hadn't really started to bother me until last week, when I went 3 whole days without seeing Hal's face. Three whole days is A LOT of time to be without him, when we haven't spent a day apart in 2 and 1/2 years!

Last night Hal had to work and had to leave me about 10:30. I was so bummed all night long, I just clung to him on the couch from the minute I walked in from school. Luckily we had about 3 hours together before he went to work, but for me, thats just not enough.

As we were cuddling on the couch I told Hal that if he wouldn't go to work then I wouldn't go to work today. I told him that we could both just quit our jobs and live on love and ramen noodles.

Man, I wish it were that easy! Don't we all?

Happy Monday

Was it a beautiful weekend, or what? I don't think we could have ordered one better.

Saturday was a bittersweet day. Clemson won, a big win, and Carolina lost, a big loss. I was excited about the Clemson game, they really deserved it, and they played like the Clemson Tigers I grew up watching. I couldn't have been more proud of the team. Carolina played a heck of a game, I really mean a heck of a game. They came back from 21-0 at half time, to end up leading the game with 2 minutes left. Tennessee tied it up and then won with a kick in overtime. I am disappointed that they lost, but they played a great game. I don't know if I have seen them play better all year, than they did in the 2nd half. If they can keep it up, Arkansas and Florida better LOOK OUT!

Yesterday we celebrated our niece's 6th birthday. We had a great little party with the whole family. Although we were gone from home ALL DAY, it was a great day!

You know I told you last Monday that Hal was out in the rain planting grass? Well we could not have picked a better week to plant grass! Would you believe that our yard is already FULL of our new grass? We are so excited! Hal really worked hard and it is coming up great! He put down winter rye so we are going to have a beautiful GREEN yard this winter!!

The BoSox swept the Rockies to win the World Series last night.

Remember the 6 USC students and the Clemson student that died in the fire in Ocean Isle, NC this weekend. At least one of the deceased and one survivor was from Greenville.

Also, here is my new list of must tries:

Southern Blackberry Cobbler ice cream by Blue Bell. It is WONDERFUL! I am such a sucker for blackberry cobbler anyday and this tastes just like it. The ice cream is a blackberry and vanilla swirl with pie crust in the ice cream. I LOVE IT! You must try it if you love blackberry cobbler!

"Laughed Until We Cried" by Jason Aldean is one of my new favorite songs. It is a wonderful song that almost always brings a tear to my eye.

Where did the music go?

I love music, and for the last couple of years I have been somewhat put-out with the music that is on the radio.

I grew up listening to country music, and country is always consistent with songs that I like to listen to. In middle school I developed my own tastes in music and that is when I started to like listening to good bands. You might call that kind of music alternative, but I don't really think of it that way. I think of it as just good quality music being played by good quality musicians. They don't have to scream, wear make up, or jump around on stage for their music to give you goose bumps.

Think about whats on the radio right now, where have these kinds of bands gone? Why do I never hear Dave Matthew's Band, Incubus, Dashboard Confessional, Hootie and the Blowfish, Matchbox 20, and others on the radio anymore? I have been to 4 Dave Matthew's concerts and they have always been sold out, so why don't I hear them on the radio?

I still listen to country and the light stations, just because I can't stand whats on the top 40 stations right now.

I desperately want to see good music come back into the top 40. Whats there now, I am not really sure I even consider music! How can you call that top 40?

I know this is my own opinion and some might not agree. I love good music, though. Right now I am having to pull out my old CDs from high school to listen to what I love.

Where has it gone and when will it come back?

Here's an "oldie" that I love.

Last Thursday of October!

As nursing school fast approaches, and I learn more about the career everyday, there are many reasons that I have decided this career path.
13 reasons I want to be a nurse:
1. New tasks and new challenges come everyday.
2. My salary from my current job to becoming a nurse will automatically double!
3. As much as I LOVE high heels, I won't have to wear them to work anymore!
4. I won't have to stand in front of my closet forever deciding what to wear. I will always have cute and comfortable scrubs!
5. I work well under pressure.
6. If I get tired of doing one thing I can change to something new, and still be a nurse.
7. I will always be up to date with new things in health care.
8. I will be able to take care of the people I love without having to send them to the doctor.
9. I will always have a good story to tell.
10. I can work 3 days and be off 4!
11. Free lunch and snacks from drug reps.
12. I love, really love meeting and talking to new people.
13. I feel like the job I do now doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. As a nurse, my job will matter. I will be able to come home at the end of the day and know that my hard work was worth it, and in some way I was able to help someone.

Thankful

This weekend my mom and I were out and we ran into an old boyfriend of mine, his wife, and his family. It brought back some things to memory that I wanted to share.

This boy and I were semi-serious and even talked about marriage at one point. Although we were highschool sweethearts, at that time, we thought we would want to get married.

When I remember back to that relationship, I remember my heart was never in it one hundred percent. I would talk about marriage, but in my heart I always knew it would never work out. I always knew I would never let it go that far.

Eventually I did follow my heart and I ended the relationship.

Every single day since I have been with Hal I have thanked God for having another path for my life, and for being the force in my heart that led me in another direction.

As we talked and shared general pleasantries I was thankful; thankful that God let me share a couple of years with this boy so that I would truly appreciate the real, heart-filling love that I feel for Hal.

I am thankful that God has a path for my life and I am anxious to follow his will, for it is always right.

Praise the Lord

Its been raining most of the day today, a good, steady rain.

We've needed this for months. We need more, but I am thankful for what we've gotten so far.

It couldn't have rained on a better day. Hal aerated and planted grass seed in our yard today. He didn't even have to water the grass because he worked all morning in the rain.

Praise the Lord.

Mundane Monday

I could have really used just one more day of the weekend. It was a good weekend, though.

Friday night Jonathan, Stephanie, and I walked up from my house to the Byrnes game. We had a great time, and just as I suspected, Byrnes STOMPED Gaffney, 49-14! You can go to Annie's post to see some great pics of the game.

Saturday and yesterday were lazy days for me. Hal had to work nights, so he was sleeping all day. I hung out with my mom most of the time and got a few things done around my house.

Mainly, I was just glad to be off work for 2 and 1/2 days!

Bliss

I got home from class last night and Hal was there waiting on me.

We took a walk around our neighborhood while preheating our oven for supper.

We made 2 awesome Red Barron pizzas and watched the Rutgers-South Florida game.

We laid around on the couch for a while, then got in bed at 8:45!

I love nights like that!

Its raining today and I get off at 2:00!

GOOO REBELS!!!

Thursday, October 18, 2007

For my Rebel readers

The biggest game of Byrnes football season is coming up tomorrow night at Nixon field. This game is for revenge.

Byrnes plays Gaffney at home at 7:30. This is the pic that is floating around on Facebook. I just wanted to share.

I hope Byrnes STOMPS Gaffney. Seriously. I was at the game last year, at Gaffney, when the Rebels were robbed of a victory. I can't wait to see them in action against the Indians this year! GO REBELS!

Its ALMOST Friday!

Stephanie and I were having a conversation about how hard it is to lose weight Tuesday night. I will be the first to admit that I have put on a few pounds since I started my job last October. No matter what I do, its impossible (or almost) for me to shed those pounds, and more, that I have gained!

Here are 13 reasons why I have such trouble losing weight:

1. I SIT behind a desk for 8 hours a day, then leave work and SIT at another desk for 3 more hours.

2. Sleeping an extra 45 minutes in the morning seems so much better than getting up to exercise!

3. By the time I get home from school, all I want to do is go to bed!

4. My husband "surprises" me with a half dozen of Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice Cake Donuts.

5. When I order a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks, I always order large.

6. I never have time to cook anymore because I am always at school!

7. McDonalds sweet tea - its only $1 for 32 ounces of tea!

8. Bread.

9. We still don't have a DVD player so I can't do my Pilates video!

10. I don't drink nearly enough water, I'd rather just drink sweet tea.

11. Marble Slab Creamery - candy bars and ice cream are a deadly combination

12. My mom brought me apples. Instead of eating them as a wholesome snack, I decided to make an apple PIE!! : )

13. Healthy food doesn't taste nearly as good!

At least I know the things I need to change!! : )

Amazingly Simple Home Remedies

Yes, I know this is my 3rd post today, but these were too funny not to share.

Subject: AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES

1. If you are choking on an ice cube, simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat. Presto! The blockage will instantly remove itself.

2. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold the vegetable while you chop.

3. Avoid arguments with the Missus about lifting the toilet seat by usingthe sink.

4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use atimer.

5. A mousetrap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you willbe afraid to cough.

7. You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn'tmove and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the ducttape.

Did you know?

Yesterday I learned just how serious the drought is that is currently affecting most of the Southeast region of the United States. I had no idea it was this bad being that here in Spartanburg, no one is really on any kind of mandatory water restriction.

Here is a map that monitors the drought that categorizes most of the south as being under "exceptional" drought.

I knew it was bad, I knew we hadn't had rain in what seems like forever, but I didn't know it was THIS bad.

Lake Lanier in Atlanta is the major water supply for over 3 million people. Atlanta is currently under strict water restrictions due to the lake being down to record levels. In recent days climatologists and scientists have been studying the use of water in the Atlanta area and the continued decreasing water levels. The scientists predictions say that if something is not done fast, this lake could dry up in 90 days.

Environmental engineers for the water works in and around Atlanta have put tight restrictions on water use. No one is to use any water outdoors, for anything. Restaurants are being told to only serve water at the patron's request. As the drought worsens, the engineers are thinking that even more restrictions will be imposed on the citizens that live in this area. They are even thinking they may have to go as far as rationing.

This is a terrible situation to be in, and I honestly had no idea it was this bad until yesterday. I have heard in talking with other people about this situation that Georgia is in talks with South Carolina to import some of our water. I don't know how much help South Carolina will be, being that the drought here is becoming as severe as in Georgia.

This is a picture of Lake Lanier taken Friday, October 12, 2007. All of the boat ramps have been closed on the lake and there is no leisure boating allowed right now.

This is a picture of Falls Lake in Raleigh, NC taken on Monday, October 15, 2007.
The drought that is currently affecting us all, is predicted to only get worse. The La Niña weather system that has formed is supposed to stay with us throughout the winter. Let's pray that God will provide rain for us so that we may close the gap on the terrible drought.

Back to the grind

My fall break is over and I am back to the daily grind again. I really enjoyed not having to go to class straight from work, and I am going to miss getting home at 4:45 instead of 8:30!

Monday I got to go to the Beacon with my parents. I love the Beacon, but Hal hates it, so I have to go with my parents when Hal is working. After supper Monday night I laid around on the couch, and went to bed at 9:00! I don't get to do that very often.

Last night I had quite a few visitors! As I was cleaning up for my planned guests to come over, one of my best friends since 6th grade, John Thomas, stopped by for a surprise visit. He was looking to buy a house in our neighborhood, and stopped to see me while he was in the area. We actually got to go eat supper together and catch up on all the time we have missed. I haven't seen him since my wedding in March! After supper we came back and sat on the porch. While we were sitting there, our neighbors Taylor and Lindsey stopped while they were walking their dog.

While John, Taylor, Lindsey, and I stood out in the yard talking, my planned guests arrived with the cutest little pumpkin I had ever seen! It was Jonathan, Stephanie, and Perrin! They finally got to come over and see our house, and I finally got to see Perrin again! I hadn't seen him since he was 3 days old! We had a really fun visit and I was so glad they got to come. I have missed them so much, and I know I won't let it go as long until the next time I get to spend time with them.

Unfortunately Hal missed all of the fun because he was working, but it won't be the last time we get to see our friends. I had a great break from school and I really hate its over! I can't wait until next semester when I only have to go one night a week!

Happy Hump Day!! :D

Pics from the weekend

Just a few pics from the weekend I wanted to share

Chaos among the football gods

Warning: my love of football makes this post long and complicated!

It is exactly the middle of college football season and everything that was predicted at the beginning of the season has been contradicted. I know there aren't really "football gods" but if there were, there would be chaos among them right now. What has happened in college football in the last few weeks is not something even the football gods could predict!

Who would have predicted at the beginning of this season that South Florida would be number 2 in the nation? They only became a division 1 school 5 years ago! Are they really due a number 2 spot in the BCS, though? My opinion, maybe. They have beaten number 9 West Virgina and number 17 Auburn. What about the other teams they play? Those teams are teams like Elon, UNC, Florida Atlantic, UConn, and Syracuse. I have always learned that the caliber of the teams you beat determines your spot in the BCS. Well the only teams that they have beaten with real caliber are Auburn and West Virginia. Do those 2 teams carry enough clout to rule out all of the other teams? I just don't know. I am just not sure that South Florida deserves the number 2 spot, but maybe they do deserve to be in the top 5.

What about Ohio State? Again, they are number 1. By pure luck, sure, but nonetheless, they are number 1. The only nationally ranked team they have beaten is number 23 Purdue. Their schedule is just not hard, not even close to challenging, compared to LSU. They still might be undefeated, but if they played LSU, they would get POUNDED!

How did Kentucky go from number 17 to number 7? Yes, I know they beat number 1, LSU, but thats just CRAZY! From number 17 to number 7? Thats almost unheard of? If thats the case, then shouldn't LSU have dropped to number 10 or 11? You would think, but LSU is still ranked number 4 in the BCS standings. I just don't get it.

And of course, at the end of the year, number 1 and number 2 will play each other for the national championship. No playoffs, just purely based on the seasons BCS standings, which are decided by BCS board members and AP reporters. College football is the only sport in the NCAA that does not have a championship playoff. Nope, it really isn't fair. Teams like Ohio State who play high school teams all year can win the National Championship over a team like LSU who loses 1 game in tripple overtime. Yes, I am being cynnical and bias, but I can't help it. Its just the truth! Some things just aren't fair, though.

And while I am on the subject of football, I have one more issue to address. I am tired, long past tired, of hearing Clemson "fans" bash Tommy Bowden and demand his elimination. Since when is it bad to be 4-2 on the season? Right now there are 7 teams in the AP Top 25 poll who have lost 2 games. Clemson, though, can't be happy with that. They want to fire their coach. Florida has the exact same record as Clemson right now, losing their last 2 games to nationally ranked teams, and I haven't heard the first "rumor" of Urban Meyer's job being in jeopardy. Instead of bashing the coach and the team, why not stand behind the team and give them the support they deserve, whether they win or lose. We all know what Clemson is capable of, lets give them 6 more games to prove it, and if they don't, talk about the changes they can make at the end of the season. It is way too early in the season for them to be doomed. In football, motivation and toughness, comes from support. Thats exactly what the fans should be giving! If you say you are a true Clemson fan, then I challenge you to support your team, the WHOLE team including the coaching staff, for the rest of the season.

Chaos is a good word for the 2007 football season thus far. Lets all hope it gets better from here!

It was a GREAT weekend!

Hal and I had a fabulous weekend, just as I suspected!!

I got off at lunch time on Friday, so I went home and helped Hal with yardwork and other things that needed to be done around the house. Friday night I packed and got us ready to go to Charleston.

Saturday morning we woke up early and headed off to the greatest place in the world!! We did make a detour in Columbia to eat at one of our favorite restaurants, Salty Nut, for lunch. It is a great little burger joint in 5 Points where we've spent MANY Thursday nights!

We made it to Charleston around 1:30 and stopped at the Citadel for a little visit. When we got there the Citadel-Furman football game had just started and the Gift Shop had just closed so we left, saying we would come back on Sunday.

We headed to check into our hotel, then to the wedding. The wedding was beautiful and I was so glad that we were able to make it down! We met up with our good friends Lauren and Richard and had dinner at Yamato, a GREAT Japanese restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. We hadn't seen them since April so we were glad to be able to spend time with them. After dinner, we were tired so we headed back to the hotel for bed!

Sunday morning we woke up with intentions of going to walk on the Cooper River Bridge. We were both more in the mood to be lazy, so we just laid around until lunch time. We finally checked out and went to eat lunch at our favorite, Kickin' Chicken. It was SO good. While we were eating, Hal had the great idea of going to Marble Slab after lunch. After we went to Marble Slab we went to the Citadel Gift Shop to get a few things. You can really only get most Citadel things from the gift shop at the Citadel so we took full advantage. Hal and I both got a tee shirt, an ornament for our Christmas tree, and two prints that I am going to have framed.

Hal was delighted to be back at the Citadel. As much as he says he hated it and would never go back, he really does love to go back and remember all of the good times he had there. I love to see his eyes light up and his big smile as we drive around campus and see what's changed. Hopefully, we will be able to go back more often. The Citadel has a special place in Hal's heart, and now it does mine.

We got on the road and got home about 5:00. We ate with Hal's parents at Mellow Mushroom last night which was so YUMMY! We finally got home for the first time around 9:00. It was really a great weekend!

What makes life even better, I don't have class for 2 days!! I get to go straight home from work today! Of course I forgot my camera, so I will post the weekend pics tomorrow!

I am so excited that it is finally cooling off. I have fashion fettishes for each season and I always look forward to them when the season starts changing.

My fashion fettish(es) for fall and winter are jackets and coats. I love them. I can never have enough. Well this year I got a new one and now that its down in the 40's at night, I can finally wear it!

This is my new Patagonia Retro X fleece that I got back at the beginning of summer. I have dying for it to turn cool so I can wear it, finally now I can!

I hope y'all have a fantastic fall weekend, I don't think the weather could be anymore perfect!

Prayer Request

I just wanted to ask my readers to say a little prayer for a family that desperately needs your prayer today.

On Monday morning Wendy Golightly passed away. She died with a massive heart attack at only 35 years old. She left behind a husband and two young children.

Of course, this was very unexpected and very devastating to the family.

This family has been friends of my family for a very long time and our hearts go out to them during this time.

Thanks!

Charleston on my mind

This weekend Hal and I are off to Charleston for the wedding of one of my best friends. I am sitting here at work having a hard time working because I am daydreaming about our upcoming trip. Hal and I are both so excited!

You may think I am being a little overzealous about Charleston, but I must tell you that if this city meant as much to you as it does me, you would feel the same way. Until Hal, I had only been to Charleston once or twice on my own and although it was beautiful, it was nothing special to me.

Once I met Hal, that all changed. Because Hal was still at the Citadel the first year we dated, most of my weekends were spent in Charleston with him. I remember the very first weekend I went down to visit, my view of Charleston completely changed! I remember driving down Highway 17 with Hal singing Dashboard Confessional to the top of our lungs. We went to Windjammer to see Authur Brooks' band, went to Folly Beach to see the Morris Island Light, and ate at the Kickin' Chicken for the first time. This place became my home away from home. If Hal couldn't come home for the weekend you were sure to find me in Charleston! Now when I think of this beautiful city, I can't help but smile remembering those days.

I could sit here and write all day about the wonderful memories that Hal and I made in Charleston. After Hal graduated we couldn't go back as often. We felt like Charleston was so special to us, we decided to get married there. I couldn't think of a better place in the world.

In 4 days we will be back there for the first time since our wedding, and I am sure that it will be just like old times. I can't wait!

Is it REALLY Monday already?

My weekend was absolutely fabulous and I really hate that its over!

Here are a few things we did this weekend:

  1. Hal and I walked all around Lyman and Duncan just for fun. Its the best way to exercise!
  2. We watched Storytellers on Music HD for 3 hours. It featured Coldplay, Bruce Springstein, and Dave Matthew's Band. I wish we had TiVo!
  3. Went to Lowe's to buy a shovel and spent over $100. Going to Lowe's is dangerous to my bank account!
  4. Hal put up a motion sensor light on our out building to light up the back yard.
  5. Watched Clemson's disappointing loss.
  6. I ate lunch with my parents at Wade's! YUM!
  7. Cooked for my hubby! :D
  8. Went to bed really early last night. :D

I live for the weekend and I really hate it when the weekend is over! Hal and I are going to Charleston this weekend, I can't wait!

My must tries: A few things I love, that you should try!

* Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks - my favorite drink from Starbucks!

* Pumpkin Spice Cake Donuts from Krispy Kreme - I hadn't tried them until this weekend, they are so yummy!

Just thought I'd share!

My mom sent me an email with some great ideas for pumpkins, some of them were too neat not to share! (The last one is the funniest!)

Happy Fall! :D

My mom won't like this :)

Today is somewhat of an anniversary for me. This time four years ago I was getting ready to attend my very first Carolina football game as a student at USC. Carolina was playing Kentucky on a Thursday night at William's Brice. At first I said I wouldn't go to the game because I grew up in a home where Clemson football was my second religion and I would be disowned if I ever EVER thought of becoming a Gamecock. I was still a Clemson fan. I went to the game anyway because I knew that even if I didn't cheer for the Gamecocks, I could socialize at tailgate and just have fun with my friends.

I got to tailgate and had a blast. A friend of mine didn't want her ticket so she gave it to me so I could get in. I still contemplated not going in, but then decided that it wouldn't hurt. I had the greatest time in the game and I couldn't help but join in cheering for the Gamecocks. The atmosphere was so contagious. On that night I became a real Gamecock fan. I couldn't stand there and cheer against my own school! I had class with those boys, some of them were even my friends. How could I not be a fan?

Tonight Carolina plays Kentucky in one of the biggest games of South Carolina's season. This game marks my 4 year anniversary of becoming a part of a great community of fans. My Clemson roots are still there and I will always have a special place in my heart for Death Valley, but I'm a Gamecock now!

I'm sorry, Momma! I hope you still love me! :D

So today, I leave you with this: GOOOOO COCKS!

Thank goodness its THURSDAY!

After living in our new house for exactly a week now I thought I would share thirteen things I love about our new house:

  1. Our front porch. I can't explain it, but I LOVE it!
  2. We have a driveway! I know this sounds funny, but when you live in an apartment and fight for a parking spot, a driveway becomes a luxury!
  3. It has hardwood floors. The floors are the original heart of pine floors that were put into the house in 1924 when it was built. Even though they aren't in the best of shape, they still look beautiful!
  4. We have a HUGE pantry that saves so much cabinet space!
  5. My kitchen, as seen in a previous post, is nice and spacious! I don't trip over my own feet anymore while cooking!
  6. We have a 2nd bedroom!!
  7. Both bedrooms are very large and have high ceilings. I love all of the extra space that we have!
  8. We have a YARD! Its a small yard, but nonetheless, its a YARD!
  9. I have plenty of space to entertain guests.
  10. Our neighborhood is quiet.
  11. We have a large out building where we can store our bikes, lawn mower, and other big stuff that we haven't had space to store before.
  12. We have a free trash service so we never have to take our trash off again!
  13. Our mailbox hangs beside our front door and our mailman walks!

Bargain Alert!

Attention ladies!

Yesterday I left work and ran into CVS really quick to pick up something that I needed. When I walked in all of their fall and halloween decorations really caught my eye. I got what I needed and walked over to inspect their decor.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had very very cute fall decorations for VERY cheap! They had pretty little orange ceramic pumpkins (I got 2), assorted colored leaves and pinecones, pumpkin and leaf candy dishes, colored leaf garland, and some GREAT smelling candles! With an ExtraCare card you can save 25-50%.

I got the 2 ceramic pumpkins for $6 and the candle with a decorative holder for $6. The candle smells WONDERFUL! If you have been wanting to decorate for fall but just don't want to spend the money to do it, go to CVS! I was at the one on Pelham Road in Greenville, but I assume all of them have the same things!

Happy Shopping! :D

New

Have any of you seen the new Old Navy sweater commercial with that really cute song? Well I have been looking for it since I saw it a few days ago and I have finally found it! I have added it to my playlist so it will immediately start playing when you click on my blog! The version on my blog is only a 30 second clip but you can find the whole song on iTunes. I just love this song and the artist!

Its Ingrid Michaelson's The Way I Am. Hope y'all enjoy!

Happy October!

It was such a beautiful weekend! I didn't get as much accomplished as I would have liked, but I did get some rest, finally!
Friday afternoon when I got home from work I dwindled down a lot of the boxes that were still packed. I got my kitchen organized and have very little left to do for the house to be in order. Whew! I actually got to cook Friday night for the first time. I hadn't cooked in a long time so I was delighted to be able to!

My new refrigerator and range that we got Wednesday, I love them!

Saturday morning, my mom and I got up very early and headed out to the Hub City Farmer's Market in Spartanburg that I had heard so much about. We left out before 8:00 because I had heard if you didn't come early everything would be gone. We pulled up to the market and it was 9 cars with tents, selling things like lotions, candles, and odd things. We were pretty disappointed! We left there and headed to the Greenville State Farmer's Market where we thought we would have better luck. It was a REAL farmer's market and we scored some great things! My mom got some fresh pinto beans that she cooked yesterday for lunch, they were great! I got some fresh white corn that I can't wait to cook. Here are some pictures of some other things we got:

The snap dragons and small pansies I got along with the baby pumpkins!

I got snap dragons and pansies at the market and planted them in the planter that my mother-in-law gave me.

I got this beautiful burgundy mum and this cute pumpkin!

We had a very restful day yesterday and overall it was a wonderful weekend. I just hope and pray the weather stays as is for a while!
