I love 4 day weekends!!

I could really do the 4 day weekend thing more often. I love having that many days off in a row. Hal and I went to the beach for the weekend with his sisters and their families. We had a really great time, and of course, I didn't take near enough pictures. Here are a few that I took.

My cute hubby on the beach with the mohawk I styled.

We rode bikes a lot, so sweet Avah got to go on her first bike ride!

This pic doesn't do justice to the real beauty of Kiawah.

The gator we found in the swamp. :)

We had a really great time. We relaxed the entire weekend. When we parked our car Thursday night, we didn't move it again until we left last night. We didn't go anywhere, we didn't do anything, and it was just wonderful.

When we got home I got a beautiful surprise:
These were FINALLY blooming in my yard. I had no idea what they were, but I was just letting them grow until I could find out. Aren't they beautiful? I wish they would last all summer!
I also got another surprise tonight. When I got home from having supper with my parents I got a message from my summer school professor telling me that my class started TODAY. The school schedule online says that it starts NEXT Monday, but it actually started today. I had NO IDEA!! I am so thankful that my professor was kind enough to call me. I haven't even paid my tuition! So, I have class tomorrow and every day the rest of this week and until July 1st. YUCK.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day!

Ode to Sally

I traded in my car last week for something that suited my needs a little better. I have written something fun to remember my car by.

Ode to Sally

I was driving an old chevy
I needed something new
Something more reliable
More girly and cute.
With my birthday fast approaching
It seemed like the perfect time
To trade in that old chevy
And make a new car mine.
I saw her in the paper
I knew she was just right
I called up my dad
And we traded in that night.
She was just like I wanted
all black and shiny
I drove off the lot
In my new convertible pony
I called all my friends
and took them for a ride
they loved my new fun car
and the horses on the side
For six years I loved her
through good times and bad
but she only had two doors
and wasn't great on gas
It was time to let her go
For someone else to enjoy
She would be a good car
For any girl or boy
I drove away in my gas saver
and my fun car would remain
But I won't forget the good times had
In my pretty little Mustang
(I tried to separate the lines but blogger won't let me)

Summer Slump

Like many of you other bloggers, I am going through a summer slump right now. Not much of anything is going on with us right now, or at least nothing blogworthy.

The Celtics pulled out a win in game 7 of their series with Cleveland. I normally don't follow the NBA, but with 2 South Carolina boys on the Boston roster, I can't help but cheer for them.

Summer school starts 2 weeks from today. I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

I still don't have a cell phone. Now that I have been without one for a few weeks, I really don't miss it that much.

My sister-in-law, Anna, her husband, Todd, and their sweet baby girl, Avah, moved to Beaufort for good this past weekend. I was so sad when I saw that Avah's room was empty. I am going to miss them, a lot!

We are going to the beach this weekend, and I am pretty excited. I am ready for another vacation!

I am working on another post, until then, this will have to do.

Good Stuff

I haven't posted since Wednesday but a lot has happened that I wanted to blog about. I don't really have much time to go into a lot of detail, so here are some good things that have happened since Wednesday.

* I was able to get Hal a grill for his birthday. He was so excited! My parents got him a Carolina grill cover, so I'm really not sure which one he loved more.
* We went to dinner at Saskatoon for his birthday. It was so YUM! Hal had the Ostrich steak, and it was so tasty and flavorful.
* Tickets went on sale Friday for the Hootie and the Blowfish concert coming here in July. Because I am a fan club member I got to order them a day early. I got us floor seats on the 5th row. I am counting down the days; its gonna be a blast!
* Friday night and today we had RAIN!!
* Our grass is finally starting to come up after lots of hard work to sow it last weekend!
* I got to spend some quality time on Saturday with my BFF Stephanie, her hubby Jonathan, her mom Jackie, and her sweet little boy Perrin. I love them so much and I miss getting to see them often. I so enjoyed getting to spend time with them!
* Saturday night I went to a graduation/house warming gathering in my neighborhood. I got to see a lot of my old high school friends. It was great to see everyone and get to catch up.
* Today I took my parents to lunch for Mother's Day, then I got to take a 3 hour nap.

I hope everyone had a great weekend like me!

Happy Birthday Hubby!

I just wanted to shout out a birthday wish to my sweet husband. God blessed me so much when He brought him into my life.
I am so happy to be his wife and be able to celebrate all of these special days with him. Even though he has to work, I hope he has a wonderful day.
Happy 28th Birthday, Hal. I love you!

OVER-RATE-ED

(imagine the chant you hear at sporting events)

I left work early today to go have my physical done for my nursing classes. I was all worked up about getting the Tetanus shot; I had heard it was going to be awful. Hal kept telling me that the needle was HUGE, and it hurt really bad.

When my name was called, they took me back and took my blood pressure. It was 144/86!! I had worked myself into such a tizzy that my BP was extremely high. Normal BP for me is about 110/60. I was pretty nervous to say the least.

After what seemed like 3 hours waiting and lots of anticipation, the nurse finally brought in my needles. She said she would give me Tetanus first in my right arm. Oh my gosh, it was the tiniest little needle, and I barely even felt a prick. All of that anxiety for NOTHING. It was so over rated. I must say that my shoulder is quite sore now, but nothing like I expected.

What really hurt was the TB skin test. OUCH! She stuck me with that needle right under my skin in my under-forearm. It really did hurt. What stinks even more is that I have to have that every year for the rest of my career. :(

Overall it wasn't a bad experience afterall. I can't believe I had myself so worked up. I shouldn't have listened to my husband, who is a total weenie when it comes to shots.

I can't help it...

Here is the new single to be released by the New Kids On The Block.

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20197878,00.html

Its actually pretty catchy, and I am sure I will like it when it hits the radio.

Pretty funny that their back after so many years. I still remember sitting on my mom's shoulders at Furman screaming my head off for those boys. So nostalgic.

Happy Birthday Mom!

I just wanted to dedicate a space on my blog to wish my mom a Happy Birthday!
I hope she knows just how much I love her and appreciate her!
I hope you had a great birthday, Momma! I love you!

Busy Weekend

Hal and I have had a crazy busy weekend. I don't feel like I really rested at all. Although I didn't get much rest, we did get A LOT done!

Here's what we got accomplished:

* Friday night trip to Lowes. Spent way too much money.
* Saturday woke up early, too early.
* Made a run to the county landfill.
* Planted bushes, lantana, and grass seed.
* Hal aerated the grass so we could sow the grass seed, fertilizer, and lime.
* put down new pine straw
* Went out for my mom's birthday on Saturday night. Her birthday was actually Sunday.
* Ate lunch with my parents Sunday and had 2 birthday cakes!
* Went to Gramling Farms for some FRESH strawberries!
* Took a short nap Sunday afternoon.
* Went to eat with Hal's family to celebrate his and his mom's upcoming birthdays this week.
* Went to bed as soon as we walked in the door last night.

I am sorry I have no pictures. When I pulled my camera out last night the batteries were dead.

Tonight I have plans to clean my house. Hal is going to be at work so I will be home alone and will be able to get a lot more done!

I am still trying to plan a birthday surprise for my sweet hubby. His 28th is Wednesday and I want to surprise him with something great. He's not expecting anything since we are on a tight budget at the moment. I have other plans. : )

I have one month of summer and then I start summer school. Chemistry...yikes. I am not looking forward to that AT ALL.

I have my physical tomorrow with my family doctor and I have to get all of my shots updated. I have to have it all done by the time I start my first nursing clinical in September. I have to have the Tetanus shot, another thing I am NOT looking forward to.

Oh and I almost forgot, I just downloaded Darius Rucker's new song from iTunes. Its called "Don't Think I Don't Think About It." I love it, but if you know me, you know I LOVE Darius Rucker. You should check it out.

Thats pretty much all thats been going on with us lately. Hal is working the worst shift this week and will be gone from home at night all week. It stinks.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
