I heard on the radio this morning something that I was very disappointed with.
Lowe's has "family trees" for sale for the "holiday season." They are not calling them Christmas trees for Christmas because they are afraid to offend anyone.

Frustrated
I have become pretty frustrated over the last few weeks and it has caused me to develop a chip on my shoulder.
Everywhere I go, everywhere I look there are Christmas decorations. The city streets in Greer are already lined with stockings and Christmas trees, all of the stores are full of Christmas things, and they are even beginning to play Christmas music on the radio every night!
WHAT ABOUT THANKSGIVING? Are we not celebrating this holiday anymore?
There is a full month and 3 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I feel like the stores and the radio stations are forcing me to forget about Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving, to me, is just as important as Christmas. We celebrate how thankful we are for our lives and give all the glory to our Lord. How is this not important?
Every year, it seems like the commerical Christmas comes earlier and earlier.
Christmas has become so commercialized, and so much more about our boosting our economy than anything else.
What frustrates me so, is that most of us get so caught up in the hussle and bustle of Christmas to take time to thank God for sending His Son to save us. Thanksgiving is the other time that we can do this, and its being looked over by so many people.
I am not writing this post to offend my readers that have already put up their decorations. That is not what this is about! I know that most of you are Christians who celebrate the meaning of Christmas year-round, and know the importance of Thanksgiving. I just don't understand how we can commercialize Christmas so, and forget all about Thanksgiving.
I am so thankful for everything I have been blessed with and even more thankful for a day that I can celebrate that!
I love turkey day because there is no giving and receiving of gifts, no hussle and bustle. It is just time with family reflecting on all of the blessings in life. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate JESUS!
Leave a comment, let me know how you feel!
Now after my serious soliloquy, I want to leave you with something fun.

Election 2008
I, like many, am very anxious and nervous about the upcoming 2008 election. I know it is still 1 year away, but the primary elections are in 6 months! I really feel like that I need to be doing my research now, so that when I do vote in June, I will have a good candidate in mind. I feel like the primary vote is the most important one because in that vote we narrow down from about 20 candidates, to 2. It is important that we vote for the right person in the primary election so that we can vote for them again in November.
This past Sunday I was watching Face the Nation on CBS. Mike Huckabee, a republican presidential candidate was on the show answering questions. I must say, I was very impressed.
I got a good feeling about this man. He claims to be a devout Christian and that faith is number one in his life. I want to believe that he is telling the truth.
I am in no way saying that this is who I am voting for or that you should either. I do suggest that you take time to go to his website and learn more about him.

It can't hurt, right?
I feel it is important to KNOW who you vote for. Do some research and pray about it.
The feeling I got when I heard him answering some of the questions was refreshing. With all the hype that surrounds the other candidates, I truly felt that he was being himself and being honest. It almost felt like I was listening to my pastor speak.

Its a 4 day week for ME!
My weekend was absolutely fantastic! I hope yours was too!
Friday I got off and came home to my hubby! It was a beautiful day outside so we decided to take a walk. We walked around our neighborhood for about an hour. I love doing this because we are getting great exercise AND spending some quality time together too. After we walked we cleaned up and went to Monterrey's for supper. Because it is hunting season, Hal knows that deer are really moving right now. We have a secret place where we go look for and spot deer. We just love looking at them in their natural habitat. They are such beautiful animals. After supper we went to our spot and watched for deer with my parents. We rode around a couple of times and didn't see ANYTHING, but we hear that there is a 20 point buck in the area, so we will definately go back!
Saturday morning we woke up pretty early. Early to me is waking up to an alarm clock, not own my own. We headed to Lowe's to get some pine straw to put down in our yard. We started working in our yard about 11:00 and finally finished around 6:30! We dug up all of the old mulch that was there, dug up some of the ugly bushes, replanted some of the older bushes, planted some new bushes, planted some pansies, and then finally put down 5 bales of pine straw. On top of our new rye grass, our yard looks GREAT!! I will take some pics so you can see too!
We were both extremely tired from working all day, but are so glad we had the time to get this done! Saturday evening I cooked breakfast and we watched the devastating Carolina game. Yep, we were disappointed, AGAIN! We are really hoping for a big win against Florida next week!
Sunday, I skipped church, and slept in. I know, shame on me, but I needed some extra sleep after what was a tiring day Saturday. Sunday my mom and I just hung out most of the day then when Hal got home from work we went to eat at his parents' house.
It was a really great weekend and I am so excited I get 3 days off this weekend!

Sick
Our very 1st mortgage payment was due today, so I paid it a couple of weeks ago.
We got our 2nd statement in the mail today and I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit.
Only $46 of the entire payment went to principle, the rest went to INTEREST!
I think I am going to be sick...for 30 years!

November's 1st Thursday

Now that its November (can you believe it?) I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving. I really enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, probably more than Christmas. Here are 13 reasons why I look forward to and love Thanksgiving:
- dressing and turkey gravy
- cranberry sauce
- sweet potato casserole
- intimate time with family over a wonderful meal
- my mom is the BEST cook and it really shows at Thanksgiving
- other than preparing the food, there is no stress!
- we always have leftovers for more than one day
- yummy dessert we are always too full to eat!
- a couple of days off that I can actually enjoy!
- Thanksgiving means only a couple weeks left of school
- Thanksgiving dinner at our church - it is a HUGE meal that everyone in the church shares. It is always a great time and a great meal, that we look forward to every year!
- this year I have my own kitchen so I can really help my mom prepare some things for our meal.
- the Friday after Thanksgiving, my parents, Hal, and I drive to North Carolina to cut down our own Christmas tree. Its an all-day trip that we really enjoy!
Only 21 more days until Thanksgiving and I can't wait! : )
