13 Things I'm Wanting Right Now:

1. A new purse, I already have one picked out, and I am planning to get it with my birthday money :)
2. A new digital camera, I really love the ones with the large screen on the back!
3. A new bathing suit for summer
4. A tan to go with that new bathing suit, although I have sworn off tanning beds.
5. 2 South Carolina prints to go in my dining room.
6. A car that runs on hydrogen :)
7. Some of the new mixing bowls from Williams Sonoma
8. To get our hardwood floors redone.
9. A MacBook Pro.
10. A new cell phone, since I broke my other one in half.
11. A new pair of Ray Ban sunglasses
12. To get all of our yardwork done this weekend!
13. A break from school. I take my psychology exam today and I am done for a month! YES!

What's your song?

I was listening to the radio this morning, and the DJs were talking about couples' songs. One DJ was saying that he and his wife didn't have a song, and he was hoping to find one. He was telling some songs of star couples, and then they all got to sharing what song was their song.

Well, I actually thought all of the different songs that they were talking about were unique. Usually the song you choose says a lot about the couple and the relationship. After thinking of what mine and Hal's song(s) were, I got curious as to what others might say.

Here's a challenge: Tell me what your song is with your significant other, or what song has inspired your relationship. If you don't have a significant other, tell me what song best represents your life. Or, do both.

If you answer I will enter you into my very first blog GIVEAWAY!! (I knew if I didn't give something away, no one would answer) I will choose a winner on Friday around 3:00. Hopefully some of my lurkers will identify themselves here!

Here's my answer: Our song, the one we danced to at our wedding, is "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain. A couple of other special songs to us are "Here Without You" by Three Doors Down and "I Melt" by Rascall Flatts. Another one that really takes us back to our dating days is "Remember to Breathe" by Dashboard Confessional.

Week In Review

Hal and I had an exceptionally busy week last week. I don't feel the need to go in detail, so here's a quick rundown of what's been going on with us.

* Monday my stepdad came home from the hospital so we spent the evening with my parents at home.
* Tuesday, a friend of my mom's brought in a great Chicken Pie for supper, so we had dinner with my parents. I also had my last online Anatomy test, and I am proud to say I made an A!
* Wednesday Hal and I went up to my parents house to cut their grass and do some yardwork for them since my stepdad can't do it. I forgot how fun it was to ride on a lawnmower.
* Wednesday night I quickly packed up our things, then at 11:00pm we decided we needed to make a Wal-Mart run. We finally got in bed by midnight.
* We woke up at 5:00am on Thursday morning to catch our 7:00am flight to Memphis. From Memphis we flew (on the roughest flight of my life) to Philly.
* We arrived in Philly about 12:00 and got to Hal's grandparents' house in New Jersey by 2:00. Grandmother cooked us a wonderful hot meal, and we layed around the rest of the day. We watched the Phil. Flyers game, which they lost but it was pretty exciting.
* Friday we got up early, went to breakfast then headed over to Atlantic City. We piddled around the Showboat Casino for a couple of hours then headed back home.
* Saturday we actually got to sleep in until about 9:00! We went to breakfast at a great little diner and went for a drive around South Jersey.
* We ended up going to a 200 year old jail that has been turned into a museaum. It turned out to be quite interesting. Afterwards Hal and I crashed for a 3 hour nap. We played Pinochle until about 11:00pm and watched the Flyers beat the Canadians!
* Yesterday we got up at 5:00am again to catch our flight home.
* Our plane was grounded because it had gotten struck by lightning the night before. We had to change carriers, and ended up flying to Atlanta, then home.
* Our flights were all pretty rough and I have decided that I am not flying again for a very long time.
* Hal and I were in bed asleep by 9:00 last night and neither of us woke up until the clock went off at 6:20 this morning!

We have another busy week this week, but Hal is off again this weekend! We have lots of yardwork to get done, and I am so excited to get my hands in that dirt! I can't wait to finally spend a weekend with my hubby with no prior obligations.

I promise I will be better about blogging this week!

Really Quick

I have been busy busy at work and haven't had much time to update, and for that I am sorry.

I am happy to say that my stepdad, Frankie, came home TODAY! He is doing so much better than we expected, and we know we are going to have to tie him down for the next six weeks to keep him down.

He is back to his normal self and is actually in very little pain. We are so thankful that God has blessed him with such an easy time so far.

Hal had to work all weekend so we didn't do anything eventful. Our sweet nephew, Hunter, got baptised at his church yesterday and we were so excited to be there to share in the joy. It was also his birthday, so we spent some quality time with him and Hal's family.

My week is going to be busy, so I doubt I will have a lot of time to post. We leave for New Jersey on Thursday morning, so you might not hear from me again until Sunday.

I hope everyone has a great week! Thank you again for lifting my family up in your prayers!

One more update

I got to go in and see Frankie this morning and he is doing okay.

He came off the ventilator about 6:00 this morning! He is up and breathing on his own now!

When we went back to see him about 9:00, he was nauseous and really groggy. The medicine they were giving him for nausea was making him extremely tired. He could hardly keep his eyes open long enough to talk to us, which was totally okay.

He did get sick once while we were back there but they said that was perfectly normal because of all of the medication he has in his body. He was sitting up in a chair at 11:00 this morning when my mom went in, and they told her they were getting ready to take him on a walk. He was still drowsy then, too.

I am hoping when I get back to the hospital at 4:45, he will be up and feeling some better.

I just cannot sing enough praises of the S. Regional Heart Center. They are amazing and are taking great care of him. The nursing staff is absolutely wonderful, and we could never express our gratitude in words.

Thanks again for all of your prayers!

Update

I just wanted to, first, thank you all for praying for my family.

We made it through today just fine.

My stepdad is doing well, as well as can be expected. His surgery didn't start until after 1:00 today, so he didn't come out until about 5:45. We finally got to go back and see him around 7:15, and he was still under anesthesia so he wasn't awake.

When we got to see him, he was still on the respirator, and the respirator was doing most of the breathing for him. That is perfectly normal. They were hoping to have him off the respirator by 11:00 tonight, but if not definately first thing in the morning.

I am going back in the morning before I go to work, and I am hoping he will be awake and responsive. They also told us that he would be up and walking by tomorrow morning, and out of CCU as early as tomorrow evening!

We are just so thankful that God got us through this, and although we are not in the clear just yet, we are headed in that direction.

God also allowed us one more blessing today that we are so thankful for. An old friend of mine that I graduated high school and college with is his nurse tonight, all night. She is assigned only to him because he is in CCU, and I know she will take great care of him. She even told my mom that she would let her come back as soon as he wakes up, even though she's not supposed to. We are just so thankful that God let her be our nurse!

Thank you again for all of your prayers! I will give another update in the morning as soon as I get to work!

Love.

Info

I haven't been blogging because there hasn't been much going on. Hal worked nights this weekend, so last night was our first night together in about 7 days!

Tonight I have my very last anatomy test and I am DONE. DONE. WITH. ANATOMY. FOREVER!

Hal and I put $52 worth of low grade fuel into our 4-cylinder Honda Accord last night. I almost choked.

Things are going great at work, finally. A new lady just started yesterday and she has relieved so much of my stress. She has been such a God-send, and I am grateful that I have her help!

Tomorrow is my stepdad's surgery. They are supposed to start around 12:45, so we probably won't get to see him until tomorrow night, around 8 or 9. I am nervous. If we can just make it through tomorrow, we will be okay. Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

I know you will be praying for us, so thank you in advance.

Thats all folks. I'll keep you posted on my stepdad's condition.

Love.
