Can you tell I love doing this?
Oprah just recently released her Favorite Things list. I always love to look at the list because she has some great ideas. I know that I have already done a list of my favorite things, but they frequently change. All of the items wouldn't be considered gift items, but I included them anyway.
Here are a few of my favorite things:
I just got these cute flats at Target on Sunday. I have been looking for a flat shoe that didn't make my foot look like a boat, and I finally found a cute pair! I love them, they are so comfortable, and they were only $18!!
I love love love this Windex antibacterial multi-surface! It is my new favortie everything cleaner! My sister-in-law, Celeste, introduced me to this stuff and I am hooked! I seriously use it on EVERYTHING!
I recently blogged about this and I had to post it on my list. This is the best ice cream since sliced bread, in my mind anyways! It is only a seasonal flavor, so if you want some you should run out and get it NOW!
On my last favorite things post, I posted Burts Bees as a favorite. I still love Burts, but I need something a little stronger in the winter. Carmex really helps my chapped lips in the winter, so much so that I have come to not ever leave home without it!
These are my favorite Christmas decoration that I have come across so far. They are from Pottery Barn and they are ON SALE!! I just think their detail is amazing. I can't wait to display mine!
This is the one item that Oprah and I have in common. These are the melamine bowls from Williams-Sonoma. I got them as a wedding gift and I love them so much. I use them so often because they are so handy. They have a spout for pouring, but are perfect for mixing. Sometimes I find that all 3 of them are in my dishwasher at once! These are such a great innovation to mixing bowls and definately worth the money!
I don't have one of these (yet) but I am definately going to get one. This is the new George Foreman G5 grill with 5 interchangeable plates. This is the PERFECT grill because you can make everything from steaks to flapjacks on it!

I saved my favorite for last. These are my Christmas dishes from Pottery Barn. Instead of registering for china on my wedding registry, I registered for these. My family and Hal's family were so kind to complete the set for me. I cannot wait to put them out for display. They are the cutest things, and everyone who bought them for me fell in love with them too!
Here is Oprah's list, take a look. She has some fantastic things! My fav on her list is the Shaklee Get Clean starter kit!

So Blessed
There are so many things that I am thankful for this year. 2007 has probably been the best year of my life for many reasons. I could sit here and list a hundred things just off the top of my head that I am thankful for. I will spare you, though.
I have recently become more aware of how the simple things in life are so important to me. When Hal and I were shopping for our boxes for Operation Christmas Child, it really put things into perspective for me. We did this last year, but this year it really seemed to affect my heart more this year.
I am just so thankful that Hal and I are in a financial position to give. Everyday of my life I have a warm bed to sleep in, a roof over my head, food in my frig, a job that pays the bills, and so many other things that I don't need. How blessed am I?
This Holiday season my goal is to share the joy of the Lord with others through giving. I have already been so blessed and I want to pass that wonderful feeling on to someone else.
"Praise God from whom all blessings flow!"

Update on Steve Owens
I just got an update from my mom and wanted to post.
Last night Steve had a restful night and Rita was able to see him a few times throughout the night. The doctors said he was stable but still critical.
This morning Steve has taken a turn for the worse. His heartbeat has slowed down to only 40 beats per minute and he is very critical.
The power of prayer is amazing. Please help Steve by praying for him and his family.
I know they greatly appreciate it!

Thirteen Things
I don't have anything specific to write about, so here are 13 random things that I have been thinking, doing, or hoping to do:
1. I had my bows made for our decorations outside for Christmas. I love them! Even Hal mentioned how "beautiful" they were.
2. I am trying to drink less sweet tea and more water. I cannot even put into words how hard this is for me.
3. My (step)dad is the most thrifty person I know! He bought 4 brand new 4 ft. pre-lit Christmas trees for $2.50 each!
4. The YMCA cancelled my employee membership finally and I am being too cheap to pay for a new one. I think I may give in after the first of the year.
5. I have a great coconut cake recipe that I can't wait to try for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
6. I really want to have a cookie exchange party!
7. Although I desperately want a dog, they are expensive to keep up! Hal's parent's dog ate a human hair ball out of the trash can. It cost them $500 and 3 vet visits to remove it!
8. I still find myself crying, missing my MaMa and PaPa. I saw and old couple in their car yesterday and they reminded me of my precious grandparents. I couldn't help but cry.
9. I hear some of the ski slopes have opened. I am itching to go!
10. I have to admit, I like the new song by Fergie called "Clumsy".
11. I haven't bought the first thing for anyone for Christmas and I don't have any ideas of what I am going to buy.
12. I really hope Clemson can win the ACC.
13. Maybe Hal and I will serve at the soup kitchen on Thanksgiving this year, since we are having Thanksgiving supper.
Happy Thursday!

Please PRAY!
I am posting this because I know a few of my readers know this family as well as I do.
This morning about 7:30 Rita Owens was taking her husband Steve to the doctor. She had to pull over onto the side of the road because he became sick.
Steve had a massive heart attack and is in critical condition. Sallie, Steve's daughter just called my mom with the latest update.
He is currently in intensive care and is experiencing some congestive heart failure and kidney failure. He had 2 or 3 blockages around stints that were put there previously. The doctors were able to unblock the arteries with surgery, but won't know more about whats going on for a couple of days.
Please pray for Steve and the Owens family as they go through this difficult time. Steve is a wonderful, Godly man, who desperately needs our prayers now!
***Update: (1:20 pm) - Steve has just been moved to CCU where he will most likely remain for a couple of days. He is in somewhat-stable condition but hasn't regained consiousness. Rita has been able to see him but not the rest of the family. Thank you for your prayers!
